Carded four rounds in the 60s to win the Qualifying School in Portugal, finishing seven strokes clear of the field. It means a return to Europe for the American, whose best performance as a Senior was at The 2006 Senior Open Championship when he finished third at Turnberry. Born in Bluffton, Ohio, he graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College in 1971 with a degree in business before turning professional in 1972. Played on the US PGA Tour intermittently in the 1970s and early 1980s. Finished fourth at the 1985 US PGA Tour qualifying school to earn his card for 1986 and kept it through until the 1989 season when he finished 173rd on the money list and lost his playing privileges. Played the inaugural season of the Nationwide Tour in 1990 and won three times and finished third on the money list to regain his US PGA Tour card for 1991. His best finish on the US PGA Tour was second at the 1992 Greater Milwaukee Open.
