Fulfilled his undoubted potential with an emotional maiden Major victory at the 2013 US Masters – where he birdied the 72nd hole at Augusta National to force a play-off with 2009 champion Angel Cabrera, before making another birdie at the second hole of sudden death to become the first Australian to wear the coveted green jacket. Was rewarded for the quality and consistency of his golf with a place at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings in May 2014. In addition to his Augusta success, has won other big tournaments around the globe, including the 2011 World Golf Championship title at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, where he held off Luke Donald and Rickie Fowler to win by four shots. In November 2010 he recorded an impressive three-shot win in the Barclays Singapore Open. The affable Australian, who lives in Switzerland, delivered a master class in 2008 when he blew the field away on the final day of the Commercial Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy at Doha Golf Club, shooting a course record 11 under par round of 61. Has won nine times on The European Tour and in 2004, at the age of 23 years, eight months and 12 days, he became the youngest winner of The Players Championship on the US PGA Tour. His professional career started when he secured his European Tour card for 2001 in just eight starts.
