Has won five times on the US PGA Tour, his most recent victory coming in the 2009 HP Byron Nelson Championship. Also won the World Cup with Trevor Immelman for South Africa at Kiawah Island in 2003 for his biggest international success. Raised in South Africa and started playing golf at the age of four but now lives in America. Spends most of his year on the US PGA Tour and travels around America on a bus with his family rather than flying to tournaments. Has a loyal group of fans called Rory’s Rowdy Roadies who travel with him to tournaments to give him vocal support. They were certainly in evidence when he won the 2007 Crowne Plaza tournament, a victory which gave him particular pleasure as it came in his adopted state of Texas. Indeed, lists one of his special interests in the US PGA Tour Media Guide as “becoming a Texan.” Nuch of his fundraising is for injured soldiers and their families.
