Recorded six top ten finishes on the US PGA Tour in 2007, with his highest placing coming in the Fry’s Electronic Open in October, when he finished fifth. Enjoyed an even more productive 2006, becoming only the third Swede to win twice on the US PGA Tour when he added the Memorial Tournament title to his victory in the Chrysler Championship at the end of 2005. Fulfilled the early promise he showed on The European Tour by winning the 2002 Algarve Open de Portugal after a play-off with David Gilford. Attended the US PGA Tour School at the end of that year, qualifying in 21st place. Took up golf seriously aged ten. Father Lars, a low handicap golfer, was an Executive for Volvo Trucks Division, meaning Pettersson lived in England between the ages of ten and 14, before moving to his current home in Raleigh, North Carolina. Won the European Amateur Individual Championship in 2000, and represented Sweden in the Eisenhower Trophy before turning professional later that year. Won four All-American titles whilst studying at North Carolina State University.
