Started playing as an 11 year old, and turned professional aged 21. Played on the US PGA Tour in 2005, but decided to return home to South Africa when his wife fell pregnant with their first child. Has spent the majority of his career so far on the Sunshine Tour, but after coming through the 2010 Qualifying School he enjoyed a fine rookie season on The European Tour, finishing 50th in The Race to Dubai to be the second-highest placed Qualifying School graduate in 2011. Backed that up with another promising season in 2012, taking 64th place. The undoubted highlight of his 2013 campaign was a joint runner-up finish behind his compatriot Darren Fichardt in the Africa Open. Has been granted a medical exemption for The 2015 Race to Dubai after undergoing surgery on his knee in 2014. Has won 13 Sunshine Tour titles, including four in 2010. Was the South African Amateur Champion in 2000. Like compatriot Charl Schwartzel, he has a passion for flying. Started hang-gliding five years ago, and hopes to gain his pilot’s licence one day.
