Came through the Challenge Tour Rankings in 2011, finishing 14th, and several times has come close to winning his maiden European Tour title. Led heading into the final round of the 2014 Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, but finished tied tenth. The previous season he lost at the first extra hole of a play-off against Thomas Bjørn at the Omega European Masters, where he carded a ten under par 61 in round three. Will compete on the top tier for a fifth successive season in 2016 after a nervy end to the 2015 campaign. Secured a top ten finish in the Portugal Masters, the penultimate event of the regular season, to rise from 120th to 106th in the Race to Dubai, then guaranteed his safety by making the cut in the UBS Hong Kong Open. Played his first season on the European Tour in 2008 after coming through the 2007 Qualifying School – a friend lent him the money for the entry fee and he won the First Stage before embarking on a 190-hole, 15-day marathon to complete the Second and Final Stages. The former Scottish Boys Stroke Play champion subsequently lost his card after finishing 186th, and dropped back to Scottish PGA events in 2009 before working his way back up to the top tier.
