Has become something of a Qualifying School specialist in recent years, again earning his playing rights at the Final Stage in 2015 after making just 11 cuts in 25 events that season. Also came through the six-round event in 2014, 2012, 2006 and 2003, the year he won it. A talented all-rounder as a youngster, he played county football, tennis and badminton before making golf his profession. Took up the game after a PE teacher friend of his father gave him a cut-down club at the age of eight, and he proved to be a prodigious talent. A member of the victorious 2001 Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team, he has also graduated from the Challenge Tour Rankings twice, in 2005, when he won the Panasonic Panama Open, and in 2009.
