Grew up playing all sports in South Africa as a child and excelled at rugby and cricket as well as golf, but his father made him choose one to focus on when he attended high school. Admits it has been a “long, tough road” but the decision paid off when he won the 16th card at the Qualifying School in 2010. Prior to that he plied his trade on the Sunshine Tour after turning professional in 2002, enjoying his best season in 2008 when he won the Africa Open to finish 39th on the Order of Merit. His brother caddies for him which he admits is “a lot of fun and a great help”, and when he is not playing golf he enjoys hanging out with friends and playing pool. Says his motto in life is “play golf all day and then go and have fun”.
