Enjoyed a moment many dream of when he won The Open Championship at St Andrews in 2015, beating Australian Marc Leishman and South African Louis Oosthuizen in a three-hole play-off. That was his second Major title, following his Masters Tournament victory in 2007 when he won by two strokes from Retief Goosen, Rory Sabbatini and Tiger Woods. Followed that with a win in the AT&T Classic, ensuring his first three US PGA Tour victories occurred in Georgia. Began playing golf at age ten and lists his father, a chiropractor, and mother among his heroes. Huge Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball fan. The gallery at the 2004 BellSouth Classic, venue for his first US PGA Tour victory included a group of ten men from Iowa who gave him financial support early in his career. Some were seeing him play as a pro for the first time.
