Grew up playing alongside good friend Aaron Baddeley and Geoff Ogilvy in Melbourne’s State team, regularly coming up against the likes of Adam Scott. Took up the game on the strength of a bet with a friend: “I was into skateboarding and my mate played golf. I think he got sick and tired of me laughing at the clown pants that he wore to golf and said that I could never play golf. I took him on and got hooked.” Joined the magnificent Huntingdale Golf Club and turned professional with a handicap of plus four from the famous Melbourne Club. Played in Asia and Canada in 2002/2003 but suffered a ‘disc bulge’ in his back and was told he would not play golf for two years. Came back eight months later after an intense rehabilitation period. Qualified for the Final Stage of The 2008 European Tour Qualifying School through his strong performances on the 2007 PGA Tour of Australasia and won the 20th of 32 cards on offer at the PGA Golf de Catalunya.
