Won the 18th card at the European Tour Qualifying School in 2010, a year after turning professional, but was back at the School a year later after finishing 176th in The Race to Dubai. Was successful again at PGA Catalunya Resort, this time taking the 34th card after scraping in on the mark. Studied at the University of Southern California prior to that, having chosen to focus on golf in his early teens after also excelling at field hockey and tennis. Helped The Netherlands to victory in the Eisenhower Trophy in South Africa in 2006. Comes from a sporting family and his sister plays hockey in the highest league in Holland. Follows football team FC Twente and loves to ski, and although he admits he would like to have more time to play hockey, “the games are on a Sunday which is a day I’m better off being on the golf course”.
