Came within a whisker of recording the first 59 in European Tour history at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in September 2013. Was the second near-miss in a matter of weeks after coming close at the ISPS Handa Wales Open, where only a spectacular finish from Grégory Bourdy prevented him lifting the trophy. Started the 2013 season with only a Challenge Tour category, but victory in the Madeira Islands Open – BPI – Portugal improved his exemption to a full European Tour Member. Attended Oklahoma State University and reached number one in the world amateur rankings. Won the 2010 US Amateur Championship on the day of his 21st birthday.
