Needed to eagle the last, but his putt from 25 feet missed by millimetres, although a 12 under par 60 propelled him into contention. Was level with David Howell after 72 holes but lost out to the Englishman at the second hole of a play-off. Was the second near-miss in a matter of weeks after coming close at the ISPS Handa Wales Open, where only a spectacular finish from Grégory Bourdy prevented him from lifting the trophy. Started the 2013 season with only a Challenge Tour category, but victory in the Madeira Islands Open - Portugal -BPI improved his exemption to a full European Tour Membership before he finished a heady 14th in The Race to Dubai. Could not maintain that superb form in 2014, but a tied ninth finish at the ISPS HANDA Perth International helped him to 65th place in The 2014 Race to Dubai. Attended Oklahoma State University and reached number one in the world amateur rankings, having won the 2010 US Amateur Championship on the day of his 21st birthday.
