  • Brooks Koepka - a breakthrough week for the American in Turkey

Announced himself in style on The European Tour with an impressive maiden victory at the 2014 Turkish Airlines Open by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where the American narrowly overcame Ian Poulter on a tense final day. With that triumph the big-hitter became only the second European Tour Member to make one of the four Final Series events their first European Tour victory, following Victor Dubuisson's victory in the same tournament 12 months previously. His victory ensured an eighth place finish in The Race to Dubai and helped Koepka win both the 2014 Sir Henry Cotton European Tour Rookie of the Year and Challenge Tour Graduate of the Year awards. His success in Turkey came as no surprise to those who saw the Floridian seal his place on The European Tour with a three-shot victory at the windy Scottish Hydro Challenge. That win followed his record ten shot win at the Fred Olsen Challenge de España in June 2013, and a brilliant seven shot victory in the Montecchia Golf Open presented by POLAROID a month earlier. With three victories in one season on The Challenge Tour seeing a player automatically graduate onto The European Tour, it was time for Koepka to crack open the champagne in Scotland. Also won at the Challenge de Catalunya in October 2012. Graduated from college in his native United States in May 2012 and subsequently played ten events on the Challenge Tour, finishing 43rd in the Rankings and securing a full playing category for 2013. Says his decision to play in Europe was fuelled by a desire to be "a more rounded player".
