Became the third youngest player in the history of the Qualifying School to claim a European Tour card in 2014 when, aged just 17 years and 341 days, he finished third in the annual marathon at PGA Catalunya Resort in his first event as a professional. Not content with that significant career step, just days later he rubber-stamped his ascent to the paid ranks by winning the Italian PGA Championship, shooting 62 in the final round at San Domenico Golf before beating former Challenge Tour Number One Andrea Pavan in a play-off. Managed to retain those playing rights in 2015, even creating history at the Alstom Open de France by becoming the first player to record the same score – a four – on each of the 18 holes, a remarkable first in approximately 700,000 rounds since the European Tour began 43 years earlier. Enjoyed a brilliant amateur career in which he won the Men’s Individual Strokeplay Gold at the 2014 Youth Olympics in China, made two Junior Ryder Cup appearances for Europe and triumphed at the 2014 Portuguese Amateur Open Championship. Took up golf, alongside his mother, at the age of eight after being inspired by a family friend and quickly discovered he had a natural talent, deciding to work towards a life in the game when he first shot under par aged just 13.
