Came close to adding to his two Senior Tour titles when he lost in a play-off to Domingo Hospital in the inaugural Sicilian Senior Open in 2010. The elder of the two Carbonnetti brothers, he finished runner-up at both the Wentworth Senior Masters and the European Senior Masters in 2006 and featured in the top ten a further four times, en route to a career high of seventh place on the Order of Merit. Came close to winning in 2005 at the Tobago Plantations Seniors Classic, where he finished second to his younger brother Luis. Won the 2002 European Senior Tour Qualifying School and wasted little time in recording his first victory, winning the 2003 Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open on his tenth start. Retained the title in 2004, when he finished eagle-birdie-birdie to draw level with England’s Denis Durnian, whom he defeated on the first extra hole. Created headlines when he recorded a then course record seven under par 64 during the second round of The 1980 Open Championship at Muirfield.
