Biography

American Ryder Cup Captain at The Country Club, Brookline, in 1999 after making four appearances as a player. Noted golf historian who was introduced to the game by his father in Texas. Proudest moment came in 1995 Masters at Augusta National when he claimed his second Green Jacket (the other was in 1984) just a week after acting as pallbearer at the funeral of his long-time friend and mentor, Harvey Penick. Collects golf artefacts and keen student of golf course architecture.
