Divided his time between Europe and the United States again in 2004 but consistent performances in the Major Championships and the World Golf Championship events, along with a tie for fifth in The Barclays Scottish Open and a fourth place finish in the Nissan Irish Open, helped him finish the season in 48th place on the Volvo Order of Merit. Topped Australasian Order of Merit in 1996-97 after winning Ericsson Australian Masters. Uses broom handle putter to good effect, but couldn’t play for a large segment of 2000 after breaking a bone in his left wrist during the Volvo Scandinavian Masters in August and was out of action until October. Had laser treatment on his eyes during his enforced absence.
