A consistent performer in his seven seasons on the Senior Tour, having only finished outside the top 20 on the Order of Merit twice, in 2012 and 2015. Was back in the top ten in 2013 courtesy of five top ten finishes, including runner-up in the season opening ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship and tied second in the WINSTONgolf Senior Open. Has now finished runner-up a remarkable nine times overall, including three times in the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship. Tied for second place in the 2015 French Riviera Masters. The big hitting South American won his card through the Qualifying School and was a runner up twice in his rookie campaign, in the Jersey Seniors Classic and the Russian Seniors Open. Captain of Paraguay's Alfred Dunhill Cup team in 1991 and 1993. Led the Tour de Las Americas’ Order of Merit for four consecutive years, from 1989-92. Won the Paraguay Open on six occasions, as well as 20 other tournaments on the South American Tour. Won six National Opens (Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and Paraguay), as well as 24 other events on the South American Tour. Was renowned as being a giant-killer in the Alfred Dunhill Cup, being the only man to beat John Daly over the Old Course in 1993, and Ernie Els in 1994. His brother Carlos plays on the US PGA Tour.
