Germany’s Georg Schultes got his bid to win a dream ticket to The 2014 European Tour of to a superb start after a seven under par 65 saw him soar into first place at Golfclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf in Austria.
Five birdies and an eagle on a flawless card saw Schultes lead the 93 competitors after round one of the First Stage in Austria, where 22 players (and ties) will win a place at Second Stage after Friday’s fourth round.
The Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course in Scotland is this week’s other First Stage venue, where Englishman Adam Wootton grabbed a one stroke lead after an opening 68. The top 17 (and ties) of the Roxburghe’s 73 competitors will progress to Second Stage.
One of golf’s most demanding examinations, the Qualifying School will see over 800 hopefuls compete over three Stages in a bid to win one of 25 places on The European Tour’s Race to Dubai.
