Daniel Barbetti signed for an opening round of 64 to take a one-shot lead after the first day at First Stage Qualifying Section B Ebreichsdorf.
The Argentinian carded two eagles, four birdies and two bogeys to take the initiative after 18 holes at Golfclub Schloss Ebreichsdorf.
It was a good day for Denmark at Ebreichsdorf with six Danes sitting in the top ten after day one.
Also in contention is the United States’ Brinson Paolini. The 26 year old, who graduated on to the European via the Challenge Tour in 2013 after winning Le Vaudreuil Challenge, bagged six birdies en route to a four under par 66.
The leading 18 players and ties will progress to Second Stage from Ebreichsdorf this week.
Meanwhile at Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa in England, Scotland’s Paul Shields stormed into the lead by carding a fine 65 during his first round.
Also impressing after the first round was England’s Jamie Abbott. The 30 year old, who has won an impressive six times on the Jamega Tour this season, carded a 67 to share second place with five others.
The top 20 and ties will make it through from Stoke by Nayland this week, leaving many opportunities for this week’s competitors.
