A round of 68, the joint lowest of the third day, saw Australian Wade Ormsby climb to the head of affairs at Arcos Gardens, where 73 players are battling for 23 places on offer for this week’s European Tour Qualifying School – Final Stage, which starts on Thursday.
Ormsby’s 68 moved the former European Tour Member to seven under par, two strokes clear of the French duo of Christophe Brazillier and rising star Romain Wattel, who won as an amateur on the Challenge Tour this season.
With one round left to play another Challenge Tour Member, England’s Steve Lewton, is currently in fourth place on four under par.
After today’s final round the leading 23 players will head to PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, Spain, for the six-round Final Stage, where the top 30 and ties will earn promotion to The 2011 European Tour International Schedule.
