Denmark’s Kristian Nielsen made a fine start to the European Tour Qualifying School First Stage Section C at Golf d’Hardelot Les Pins in France, carding a five under par 66 in the first round.
He leads by two from a group of four players – Jason Barnes, Farren Keenan, John Chamberlain and David Callaway, all from England.
Meanwhile, at the other Section C venue, Circolo Golf Bogogna in Italy, Robin Wingardh of Sweden led the way with a six under par 66 in round one. That gave him a one shot advantage over Frenchman Jean-Nicolas Billot and Italian Nicolo Ravan, who had a hole-in-one on the par three second.
Eighteenth place and ties from Golf d’Hardelot Les Pins will go through to Second Stage, while 29th place and ties will be good enough from Circolo Golf Bogogna.
Second Stage will take place across four golf courses in Spain from November 7-10, and the Final Stage is once again at PGA Catalunya Resort near Barcelona, from November 24-29.
