Moral victory for Carlos in dramatic Q-School finale

Carlos Del Moral romped to a five-shot victory at The European Tour’s Qualifying School Final Stage on a dramatic day of twists and turns at PGA Catalunya Resort, where 27 players from 15 countries earned their places on The 2014 Race to Dubai.

Shots for the ages: the agony and ecstasy of Q-School

Duffed tee shots and spell-binding approaches; excruciating double bogeys and exceptional eagles; near-misses and narrow triumphs. With elation and anguish in equal measure, the final day of The 2013 European Tour Qualifying School had it all.

We've got all the latest editorial, photos and tweets as we wrap up what has been another nerve-jangling seven days at the European Tour Qualifying School Final Stage. Oh, and congratulations to all of our qualifiers, and good luck luck next season on The European Tour.

Let's not forget our dominant winner though, Carlos Del Moral, who alongside his girlfriend looping for him this week romped home to a five stroke victory on home soil at PGA Catalunya Resort. The Spaniard got off to a slow start over the first few days, biding his time for what was to come, the superb 63 in the fourth round that catapulted him to the top of the board. From there it was seamless for the Valencia native, following that with rounds of 65 and 67 on the final day to clinch a top triumph and secure his card at Q-School for the fourth time in the last six years. Five birdies, an eagle and a couple of dropped shots meant that his victory here was never in doubt, and he will no doubt take great confidence from this display into another crack at the big time, and The Race to Dubai in 2014. Good luck sir, and nicely done.

Got to feel for the three men who missed by just a single shot though, coming so close after 108 holes of pressure packed competition, to finish just short must be heartbreaking. The three in question, former Challenge Tour Number One, Espen Kofstad, while Edouard Espana and Tjaart Van Der Walt both bogeyed their last holes, the 18th and ninth respectively, to narrowly miss out. Tough to take, but all three have full Challenge Tour rights for next season, so every cloud...

Joining his other three compatriots on The European Tour will be American John Hahn, who finished at 13 under par and in a tie for fifth. He was the latest golfer to make it through all three stages in 2013, and in recognition of his achievement he received a strange reward. Upon coming out of recording he was greeted by this unusual site, but having taken one of the best head shots of the week, a few mischievous Tour employees just couldn't resist. Well played to Little John, and his band of Merry Men.

The cards continuing to come thick and fast, with two time European Tour winner Patrik Sjoland earning a return to the big time, as has fellow Tour champ James Morrison and Stuart Manley. Young Frenchman Adrien Saddier only turned professional a few months ago, and having come through all three stages, he has earned a debut season on The Race to Dubai next season. While Jens Dantorp, having come so close to promotion through the Challenge Tour after a maiden triumph at the Rolex Trophy this year, has also earned a first go at European golf's top table. There are a lot of smiles floating around out there, and not surprisingly so. It really is one of the most exciting days of the golf season.

Thomas Pieters shares emotional congratulations from his friends and family after securing his card.

The dream factory is turning out European Tour players left, right and centre as Adam Gee holds on for his par at the last to make it on the number, while Brinson Paolini has joined Arendell on The Race to Dubai for 2014, as has Jason Knutzon. Also heading to the big time next season are Lucas Bjerregaard and playing partner Alastair Forsyth. Fast and furious, but for those who've made it, you gotta love it!

Captain clutch, Andreas Harto, might be known for parading round a green in just his pants (we'll leave you to YouTube that one) but today he has shown that he's got more to offer than just a fine pair of tighty whiteys. Looking comfortable as he stood on the formidable ninth tee, the Dane carded what looked like a dream wrecking triple bogey seven, and as he crossed from the ninth to the tenth tees, all he could muster when looking at the large scoreboard outside the clubhouse was a forlorn shake of the head. One thing that glance would have told him though, that he needed to get his act together on the back nine, and get his act together he most certainly did. A birdie at the 12th would have given him hope, but his superb eagle at the par five 15th gave him more than that. All he had to do was hang on, and that he did with a superb birdie at the last. The exclamation point on a scintillating back nine. See you on The European Tour again next year son.

Celebrated Irish songsmith Ronan Keating once sang: "Life is a roller coaster". Seems fitting.
