Five time European Tour winner Jarmo Sandelin leads the way in the European Tour Qualifying School Second Stage at Campo de Golf El Saler after a first round six under par 66.

The 48 year old Swede, whose last victory came in 2002, rolled back the years with seven birdies and a bogey to lead by one shot from compatriot Christopher Feldborg Nielsen, while Irishman Gavin Moynihan, who was a member of the victorious GB&I Walker Cup team in September, opened with a 68 to lie two off the lead.

A total of 267 players teed it up – 67 of those at El Saler – at four Spanish venues, hoping to make it through to the Final Stage at PGA Catalunya Resort later this month.

At Panoramica, Spanish amateur Scott Fernandez leads after a ten under par 62, Englishman Matt Wallace and Jack Doherty share top spot at Lumine Golf and Beach Club and Philipp Mejow of Germany leads by two at Las Colinas Golf and Country Club.

The number of qualifying spots available at each venue will be determined after the conclusion of the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final.
