Mark O’Meara must surely want to place 1998 in a bottle and cork it for posterity after following his victories in the Masters and Open with a remarkable win in the Cisco World Match Play Championship.
The 41 year old, ranked No3 in the world, overcame world No1 Tiger Woods in a pulsating, glorious final at the sun-drenched Wentworth Club to become the first American champion since Corey Pavin in 1993.
A Match for Diners Club
Diners Club International, the world’s premier charge card for business travellers, will become the Presenting Sponsor of the 1998 World Match Play Championship to be staged over the West Course at Wentworth Club, on October 15-18.
Cisco to Sponsor World Match Play Championship
Mark McCormack, Chief Executive of IMG and Chairman of the Championship Committee of the World Match Play Championship announced today that Cisco Systems, will become the Title Sponsor of the 1998 event to be staged over the West Course, at the Wentworth Club, October 15-18.
