Double Volvo PGA Champion Bernhard Langer, showed his experience and knowledge of the West Course at Wentworth on Thursday, as he shepherded his amateur partners to a win in the inaugural Volvo PGA Champions Pro-Am.
This unique event paired Volvo’s key executives and customers exclusively with previous winners of the Volvo PGA Championship. The lucky amateurs were therefore able to enjoy the golfing experience of a lifetime as they arrived on the first tee ready to play alongside, Ian Woosnam(1988,1998) Nick Faldo (1989) Seve Ballesteros, (1991) Jose Maria Olazabal, (1994) Costantino Rocca, (1996), defending Champion Colin Montgomerie and Berhard Langer, (1995,1997).
Playing with Bernhard were Jan Engström, President of Volvo Bus, Mr Waleed Y. Zahid and Tim Yeo MP, who was later to host a dinner for the competitors, at the House of Commons. Their winning score of 59 beat the second placed team led by Ian Woosnam by one stroke.
