Westwood threatens at Medinah
Lee Westwood is perfectly placed to challenge for his first major title after posting a second round 68 to lie on 138, six under par. Westwood held the clubhouse lead at lunch on the second day of the 81st USPGA Championship, but was overtaken in the afternoon by American Jay Haas, Canadian Mike Weir and Tiger Woods, as the last major of the century headed into the weekend.
Garcia heads European Challenge at Medinah
Sergio Garcia will head the European challenge in the final round of the 81st US PGA Championship as he attempts to become the youngest winner of a major championship for 129 years. The young Spaniard shot a third round of 68 to move to nine under par, just two shots off the lead going into the final day. But he will have to first overcome World Number Two Tiger Woods who is poised to add another major to his 1997 Masters victory.
Woods Collects a second Major
Tiger Woods won the PGA Championship with a level par round of 72, but he was chased all the way by Sergio Garcia, the margin of victory a single stroke. At one point around the turn Woods held a five stroke lead but the thirteenth saw a three stroke swing, Woods taking five having watched Garcia hole out for a two.
