Spanish Open joy for Davis
Brian Davis became the ninth first time winner on the European Tour this season when he captured the Peugeot Open de España at the magnificent PGA Golf de Catalunya, Girona, Spain. The 25-year-old Londoner from Enfield fired a closing three under par 69 for a total of 274, to win the first title and also the biggest cheque of his six-year professional career.

All change in Spain as Davis takes control
It was all change at the top of the leaderboard after round three of the Peugeot Open de España as England’s Brian Davis came to the fore. A six under par 66 moved Davis to ten under, one stroke ahead of Austria’s Marcus Brier who in turn is a stroke ahead of Argentinian Eduardo Romero.

Accuracy holds the key for Quiros
Of those who figured on day one of the Peugeot Open de España, it was Spaniard Juan Quiros who maintained his form to take the halfway lead in his national Open. At eight under par Quiros holds a one shot lead from England’s Gary Evans and just a shot further back on six under lie Colin Montgomerie and New Zealand’s Stephen Scahill.

Robertson's recovery complete after 65
Scotland’s Dean Robertson found the perfect tonic for a five-month lay-off with a course record equalling 65 to lead the field after the first round of the Spanish Open at PGA Golf de Catalunya. Robertson has been sidelined since the World Cup of Golf in Kuala Lumpur last November where he picked up a stomach virus which left him with cramps and feeling nauseous much of the time.

Rivalries renewed in Catalunya
Colin Montgomerie and Seve Ballesteros, captains in the hugely successful Eurobet Seve Ballesteros Trophy at Sunningdale recently, renew their rivalry but in the more familiar stroke play format this week in the Peugeot Open de España at PGA Golf de Catalunya, Girona, Spain.
