Montgomerie makes history at Wentworth
Colin Montgomerie marched into the history books at Wentworth Club when he became the first player to win the Volvo PGA Championship for three successive years. A final round of 69 gave him a winning 17 under par total of 271, three clear of Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood and Andrew Coltart.

Montgomerie top of greens again
Colin Montgomerie’s fabulous victory in the Volvo PGA Championship was achieved with a Greens in Regulation average of 80.6%, top for the week and also moving Monty to the top of the category for the 2000 season. His average in 2000 lies at exactly 78%, that’s 14 greens on average per round. Montgomerie is also sneaking up the Stroke Average ranking, moving up to third with 70.67, just behind Jose Coceres with 70.43 and leader Padraig Harrington with 70.38.

Montgomerie pulls three clear going into final round
Colin Montgomerie pulled three shots clear of the field when he completed his third round Wentworth Club early this morning in his bid to win the Volvo PGA Championship for a record third successive year.

Montgomerie takes two shot lead into final day
Colin Montgomerie maintains a two-shot advantage over the field as the Volvo PGA Championship moves into the final day. Europe’s number one for the past seven seasons, chasing a hat-trick of Volvo PGA Championship titles this week, held firm at 12 under par through 13 holes when play in the third round was suspended at 8.37pm with darkness falling.
Montgomerie leads by two at Wentworth Club.
Colin Montgomerie set off this afternoon with a two shot lead in the millennium edition of the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth Club in his bid to become the first player to win the title for a third successive year.
