Maiden Triumph for Tinning
Steen Tinning became the tenth first time winner on the European Tour this season by capturing the inaugural Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open with a 15 under par total of 273. The 37 year old Dane shot a closing 69 to edge David Howell into second place and finally put behind him a decade of frustration caused by two prolonged injuries.

Woosnam Takes One shot lead into final round
Ian Woosnam takes a one shot lead into the final round of the inaugural Wales Open as he chases a third European Tour title in the land of his fathers. Woosnam charged out of the blocks with six birdies in a front nine 30 to move to 13 under par and, although he advanced no further over the back nine of the Wentwood Hills course, still leads Dane Steen Tinning by a shot.

WOOSNAM AND MCNULTY SHOW YOUNGSTERS THE WAY AT CELTIC MANOR
Their combined ages total 88 and, between them they have won 43 European Tour titles, but even on a golf course which is physically taxing even for the young bucks on Tour, Ian Woosnam and Mark McNulty showed the youngsters how it should be done in the second round of the Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open.

KING COLES LEADS BY THREE AT CELTIC MANOR
Robert Coles followed the example of Michael Campbell one week earlier by racing into a three stroke lead in the first round of the Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open over the spectacular Wentwood Hills course at Celtic Manor Resort. Coles shot an eight under par 64 to move ahead of Iain Pyman, Ivo Giner and Mark James, whose 67s were one better than local favourite, Ian Woosnam.

European Tour Returns to Wales
Ian Woosnam seeks a hat-trick of European Tour titles in his native country when the European Tour returns to Wales for the first time since 1991 this week with the inaugural edition of the £750,000 Wales Open at the spectacular Wentwood Hills course at Celtic Manor Resort near Newport. Woosnam heads a high quality field for the first year of an initial three-year contract for The Wales Open at the luxurious new resort.

Wentwood Hills is the newest of the three golf courses at Celtic Manor, and was opened in May 1999 by Ryder Cup Captain Mark James and former Masters Champion and World number 1 Ian Woosnam, MBE.
