Montgomerie storms into contention as Singh leads
Colin Montgomerie stormed back into contention after a lightning delay in the Caltex Singapore Masters with three birdies in the last four holes to lie just three shots off the lead held by Masters champion Vijay Singh.

Minoza takes halfway lead with new record
Frankie Minoza’s love affair with the Bukit Course at Singapore Island Country Club continued as he moved into the halfway lead of the Caltex Singapore Masters with a course record 61, ten under par, for a 17 under par total of 125, equalling the European Tour record for the lowest first 36 holes.

Bennett and Harrington set fast pace in Singapore
Warren Bennett, out of the game for most of last season through illness and injury, got himself back on the road to recovery with an eight under par 63 in the Caltex Singapore Masters at Singapore Island Country Club to share the first round lead with last week’s runner-up Padraig Harrington.

Bukit Course ready to bare its teeth
After an eight year absence the European Tour returns to the Bukit Course at Singapore Island Country Club and the scene of one of the great contests between two of Europe’s finest golfers. The 1993 Johnnie Walker Classic will long be remembered for the duel between Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie. Steven Richardson was the third player in the group and witnessed first hand the battle for supremacy that week.
Montgomerie launches 2001 campaign
Colin Montgomerie, fresh from a victory in the Ericsson Masters in Australia, launches his campaign on the 2001 European Tour International Schedule this week by returning to Singapore Island Country Club for the inaugural Caltex Singapore Masters. Eight years ago Montgomerie was narrowly defeated at Singapore Island by Nick Faldo in the 1993 Johnnie Walker Classic but his performance that week marked the start of his record breaking reign as Europe's Number One.
