Information on the El Saler golf course.
Tees & Fairway - Rye grass and poa
Greens - Creeping bent grass, bent with poa
The fairways are fairly wide but any stray shots will be heavily penalised by trees, bushes, sandy rough and ice plant.
There is a band of rough beside the fairways, last cut to 80mm, and a number of sandy waste areas typical of the links nature of the course.
Large undulating greens.
Stimpmeter reading on Monday, March 16, prior to the tournament - 9.6, aiming for 10 by Thursday.
Greens are being cut 3 times a day at 2.7mm
The wind tends to be a major factor at El Saler, it often picks up in the afternoons. It is an excellent test of golf, a long course with a mixture of tree lined and links holes. The course is in very good condition.
