Tees: Santa Ana Bermuda (10mm)
Fairways: Winter Green Bermuda (10mm)
Greens: Pencross Bent (2.2mm)
Rough: Fescue/Rye grass (75mm)
Average width. A number of holes dog-leg right to left, and they will need a drawn tee shot in order to gain maximum distance and stay on the fairway.
Semi-rough: 27mm - 1 machine width
Maintained Rough: 75mm
Some have a lot of slope and will be very fast. Stimpmeter reading is expected to be between 11' - 11'6"
The sea breeze comes in during the afternoon, and this will have a large impact on the course. The fairway grass is being kept relatively long to prevent too much roll on downhill tee shots.
The holes are generally tree lined, so wide tee shots will be punished.
The course was originally designed by Alex Russell, and opened in 1929. It has been extended to hold this and other championships.
