St. Andrews
Grasses - Fescue (Slender & Chewings); Bent (Browntop)
Fairways - Fescue - Wide - double fairways cut at 8mm
Rough - Fescue - Semi-rough cut at 38mm; main rough not cut
Greens - Stimpmeter reading 10
General - The course is running fast due to prolonged dry summer.
Carnoustie
Grasses - Fescue
Rough - Rough is not too severe, as a lot has burnt off naturally during the summer due to lack of rain
Greens - Stimpmeter 9.5
General - 7,102 yards, not as long as set up for the Open Championship, but still a severe test, especially if the wind blows (as is forecasted)
Kingsbarns
Grasses - Greens Fescue and Bent; Fairways & Rough Fescue, Bent & Poa Pratensis; Tees Fescue, Bent & Poa Pratensis;
Fairways - Wide links fairways with angles of attach into greens with feeding contours
Rough - 100mm being cut once a week. Semi-rough 50mm
Greens - Large firm greens with a lot of undulations
General - A lot of bunkers, so accuracy from the tee is essential
