Course
Opened – 1990
Course Designer – Hubert Chesneau and consultant Robert Van Hagge
Special Features – Stadium style course with lots of elevated viewing positions. Water is very much a feature especially over the closing holes which are something of an amphitheatre with water coming in to play on 13, 15, 16 and 18, as well as 1 and 2.
General Playability – The course will play reasonably tough but with very good surfaces and less penal rough we can expect a lower winning score than the 12 under last year.
Undulating/Flat – Quite a lot of undulation
Treelined/exposed – Mostly exposed
Water Hazards – Many water hazards, see Special Features above
Changes to the Course – New tee on hole 17 adding 10 metres

Greens
Type of grass - Mix of Poa Annua and bent grass
Height of cut – 2.7mm
Speed/stimp reading - 11’2”
Any specific comments – Fairly generous but a lot of movement in many of them.

Fairways
Type of grass - Mix of bent and fescue
Height of cut – 11mm
General width and contouring – Average width but a lot of movement through the drive zone means that they play narrower.
Any specific comments - None

Tees
Type of grass – Mix of Poa Annua and bent grass
Height of cut – 9mm

Collars
Type of grass – Mix of Poa Annua and bent grass
Height of cut – 9mm

Rough
Type of grass – Mix of Fescue/ Rye grass
Semi-rough - Height of cut – 1.8m wide at 03m
Intermediate – Height of cut –1.8m wide at 64mm
Rough - Height of cut – maintained at 100mm
(Unmaintained outside of this)
Any specific comments - The course has been prepared with roughly 9m more of 100mm rough than last year. This will make the course less penal than in 2004 although anyone finding the unmaintained areas will still be heavily penalized and the 100mm rough is a significant penalty.

Weather
In advance – The last few days have been very hot - 32 degrees
with clear skies so the course is suffering some heat stress at the moment.
Forecast for tournament – The hot weather and light winds are set to stay for the next few days although there may be some showers/ storms developing later in the week.

Other Features
The lakes are full of some of the largest carp in this part of the world that feed almost exclusively on the grass clippings from the golf course.
