At the end of a fascinating opening day’s play, the 26 year old European Tour Member found himself two shots clear of his nearest challenger, American Jason Gore, who had a rollercoaster 65, with another American, Lucas Glover, in third after his opening 66.

The undisputed World Number One was also fantastic at Firestone Country Club as he successfully defended his World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational title, beating US Ryder Cup team-mate Stewart Cink at the fourth extra hole of a sudden-death play-off to notch his 11th individual victory in a WGC event.
