Stenson Goes Where Eagles Dare to Capture BMW International Open
Henrik Stenson of Sweden conjured up a stunning eagle three at the first play-off hole at Golfclub Műnchen-Nord, Eichenried, to capture the BMW International Open from South African Retief Goosen and Ireland's Padraig Harrington after the illustrious trio had finished tied on 273, 15 under par, on a day of high drama in Bavaria. The 30 year old rolled in a four foot putt on the 18th green to deny Goosen and Harrington the spoils after shooting a solid closing round of 68.
Howell continues his love affair with BMW in Munich
David Howell continued his love affair with BMW when he moved into pole position after the penultimate round of the BMW International Open at Golfclub München-Nord, Eichenried. Being little more than three months after his memorable triumph in the BMW Championship – The Players’ Flagship at Wentworth Club, and 12 months after his win in this tournament in 2005, another victory in Munich on Sunday would see the Englishman complete a notable BMW treble.
Erlandsson leads as Ryder Cup race intensifies in Munich
He has won in his native Sweden and won in Spain on the European Challenge Tour but Martin Erlandsson has yet to savour the sweet taste of victory on the biggest stage of all, The European Tour. However, the 32 year old gave himself the chance to right that statistic over this weekend when he grabbed the halfway lead in the BMW International Open.
Howell shares lead and moves closer to European Tour history
David Howell took a huge step towards European Tour history when he moved into a share of the lead with fellow Englishman Gary Evans, Sweden’s Martin Erlandsson and Garry Houston of Wales after the first round of the BMW International Open at Golfclub München-Nord, Eichenried. No-one has ever won the European Tour Order of Merit from wire-to-wire but Howell now has that chance having moved into pole position after victory in the season opening HSBC Champions tournament in China and never leaving the lofty perch.
Howell returns to form to share early lead in BMW International Open
(Reuters) – England’s David Howell signalled the end of a three-month loss of form when he closed with an eagle three to take a share of the early first round lead in his defence of the BMW International Open at Golfclub München-Nord, Eichenried. The European Tour Order of Merit leader's five-under-par 67 took him alongside tournament outsider Martin Erlandsson of Sweden to hold a one shot advantage over the field.

Ryder Cup Race Comes Down to the Wire
In its own right, the BMW International Open is one of the highlights of any season on The European Tour International Schedule as a glance at the impressive Roll of Honour from 1989 to 2005 will show. However, every two years it takes on an added significance as the final counting event for The European Ryder Cup Team. This year is no exception.
