Woods cruises to victory in the WGC - American Express Championship
It did not come as a surprise that the only person capable of stopping Tiger Woods at The Grove was Mother Nature herself. The elements might have caused a cessation of play in the final round lasting, in total, two hours and 46 minutes, but it merely delayed the World Number One’s inevitable celebrations as he cruised to a comprehensive eight shot victory in the World Golf Championships – American Express Championship.
Woods' love affair with the 18th continues at The Grove
He might well be the overwhelming favourite to lift the €1,015,944 (£683,778) first prize from the World Golf Championships – American Express Championship but it is a pretty fair bet that the real treasure that Tiger Woods might want to take home from The Grove on Sunday night is the Hertfordshire course’s 18th hole.
Woods shows no sign of letting up at The Grove
It was Padraig Harrington who posed the question: “You would think that Tiger Woods would lose a bit of motivation in these things by now, wouldn’t you?” However, after having won 11 World Golf Championship events in the past, the World Number One showed absolutely no sign of letting up when he cruised into a commanding lead at the halfway stage of the WGC – American Express Championship at The Grove.
Eagle lands for Woods as he leads at The Grove
Defending champion Tiger Woods gave himself the perfect start in his quest for his sixth consecutive stroke play tournament victory when he moved into the lead after the first round of the World Golf Championships – American Express Championship at The Grove. However, the World Number One had to rely on an eagle three at the 18th to vault his two nearest challengers, European Tour Members Padraig Harrington and Ian Poulter.
