Course designer - Freemnte and Gedge and then redeigned by M Nicholson in 1929 and then Severiano Ballesteros in 1999
General Playability - The course plays quite tough with the design and firmness of the greens which shed the balls if not properly controlled.  The balls travels at least another 10% at this altitude.
Undulating / flat - Very undulating
Tree lined / exposed - Very exposed
Many / few water hazards - A few hazards most noticably on holes 14 and 18

Greens
Type of grass - Mix of Poa Annua and bent grass
Height of cut - 2.8mm
Speed / stimp meter reading - 10'
Any specific comments - Quite small and redesign means that many of them have run offs around the green which makes them very hard to hit and stay on

Fairways
Type of grass - Mix of Poa Annua and Rye grass
Height of cut - 11mm
General width and contouring - Average width but with the mountainside location many are either severely uphill or downhill

Tees / collars
Type of grass - Mix of Poa Annua and bent grass
Height of cut - 9mm

Rough
Type of Grass - Mix of Fescue / Rye grass
Height of cut - Semi - 1.8m wide at 32mm
                         Intermediate - 1.8m wide at 64mm
                         Rough - outside of this rough at approximately 100mm
Any specific comments - Rough is not particularly penal

Weather
Weather in advance - There has been considerable rain during August leaving the course relatively soft
Forecast for tournament - Mostly cold, windy with rain midweek.  Improving at the weekend.

Any other features that may be of interest - Just the most stunning venue on Tour with vues up to the Pleine Mourt Glacier and across the mountain ranges and valley below the 7th tee
