The low scoring at the Inteco Russian Open Golf Championship continued in the early stages of the final round with Jamie Donaldson surging towards the upper reaches of the leaderboard.

The Welshman, who started the day in a tie for 43rd on six under par, has raced to 11 under and a temporary share of ninth after 13 holes.

His only blip came at the third, though birdies at the first, second, sixth and seventh saw him out in33. Birdies followed at the tenth and 12th to give him an outside chance of glory.

Fredrik Andersson Hed also made up ground early in the fourth round, picking up birdies at the first, second, fourth and sixth holes to reach 11 under par, while England’s Paul Waring had charged to 12 under par after six birdies but a double bogey five at the 11th pegged him back.

Stephen Gallacher has made a strong start to his final round, picking up a birdie on the first and an eagle at the second to improve to 12 under par. It leaves him five shots adrift of leader Mikael Lundberg, who is yet to tee off.

Elsewhere, England’s David Carter, who jointly held the lead after the first round, set the clubhouse benchmark at seven under par with a 65-73-76-67.
