  • Gains his second European Tour International Schedule victory in 2008, following the BMW Asian Open.
  • First time since 2000 that Clarke has recorded multiple victories in the same European Tour season, when he won the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship and The English Open
  • Record multiple victories in the same season for the third time in his European Tour career.  The years are: 1998, 2000 and 2008.

  • The eighth Irish victory of the 2008 European Tour International Schedule.  The most in a single European Tour season.  They are: Graeme McDowell (Ballantine's Championship and The Barclays Scottish Open), Damien McGrane (Volvo China Open), Darren Clarke (BMW Asian Open and The KLM Open), Peter Lawrie (Open de Espana) and Padraig Harrington (The 137th Open Championship and the US PGA Championship).
  • First time in European Tour history that three Irish players have recorded multiple victories in the same season - Graeme McDowell, Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke.
  • The Netherlands now becomes the eighth different country Darren Clarke has won in on the European Tour.  They are: Belgium, China, England, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain and the United States.
  • First Irishman to win The KLM Open since The European Tour began in 1972.
  • Moves to 15th with €1,000,126 in The European Tour Order of Merit.  This is the sixth time in his European Tour career he has amassed over €1million in a single season - 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2008.
  • Moves to 56th in the Official World Golf Ranking from 90th.
  • Moves to 1,009,788 in the European Tour Ryder Cup Points Table.
  • The 32nd victory for Northern Ireland on The European Tour.
