Australian duo Richie Gallichan and Heath Reed and New Zealand’s Mark Brown set the first round pace at the Johnnie Walker Classic this morning at The Vines Resort and Country Club in Perth.

Gallichan birdied his third hole of the morning before making his move to the top of the leaderboard at three-under-par with an eagle at the 14th after starting on the back nine.

Reed stormed out of the blocks with three straight birdies after beginning his challenge on the front nine, while 2008 Australasian Tour Order of Merit winner Brown made an equally impressive start as he picked up his three shots over the first four holes of the back nine.

South Africa’s Anton Haig and Ireland’s Damien McGrane lie at two under after just two holes, while Greg Norman and Lee Westwood headline a large contingent at one under.
