Combine world class golf on the West Course with fun, frolics and fine dining in the Tented Village, and you have a spectator experience which appeals to all ages and tastes. Welcome to the BMW PGA Championship.
The focal point of this year’s ‘village experience’ is a central BMW display, featuring an area for spectators to enjoy a leisurely coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine in the afternoon to soothe aching limbs after a long but rewarding day walking the West Course’s 7,320 yards in the company of many of the world’s finest golfers.
The central display also includes a putting green in association with Genworth Financial Statistics’ “Putts for Charity” initiative, plus the chance for ‘petrol-heads’ of all ages to guide a remote-controlled BMW rally car round a miniature race track.
Spectators can also enjoy a close-up of the action on the closed circuit big screen, which services the 1400-seater grandstand by the 18th green. The screen will feature scoreboard and on-course action, whilst another large screen by the first tee will provide interesting biographical information on the players, courtesy of Genworth Financial Statistics.
BMW owners will be able to park in an exclusive car park a few minutes’ walk from the first tee and the 18th green. The BMW Owners’ Lounge will also feature a café, bar and bistro in which to unwind and discuss the day’s play, whilst the BMW Owners’ Viewing Gallery by the 14th green allows spectators the chance to get even closer to the action. To gain entry to either facility, simply show your BMW key fob.
In the Tented Village, hungry spectators can tuck into a mouth-watering selection at the BMW PGA Championship Theatre of Food, which includes a barbecue and oven-fire pizzas, while the Moët Bar & Brasserie will help quench the customers’ thirst with brasserie-style fare and, of course, champagne.
For those in need of some retail therapy, there will be plenty of opportunity to visit the exhibition tents, incorporating a clothing shop, displaying the latest golfing fashion from Hugo Boss, Wentworth Club and BMW Golfsport. Golfing enthusiasts of all abilities can also stop by the Nike swing zone, where they can have their swings analysed in detail.
Juniors can enjoy the BMW Baby Racer Circuit which is located adjacent to the complimentary BMW crèche, where children up to the age of 12 can enjoy themselves whilst their parents take in the action out on the course. Budding young golfers can also show off their skills in the Junior Golf Foundation area.
