Qualification Criteria
»  Defending Champion (As there was no 2008 event, Ernie Els, the 2007 Champion qualifies)
»  The 2009 Volvo China Open Champion
»  The leading player, based upon their nationality, listed on the Official World Golf Ranking, from each of the following regions as of Monday 17 August following the completion of the US PGA Championship:
›  Europe
›  Africa/Middle East
›  North America
›  South America
›  Asia (comprising China, SE Asia, India, Japan, Korea)
›  Australasia (comprising Australia, Fiji and New Zealand)
»  The leading 4 players (not otherwise qualified) from the Official World Golf Ranking as of Monday 28 September following the completion of the previous week’s PGA Tour event (Tour Championship).
»  The leading 4 players (not otherwise qualified) from the European Tour Race to Dubai Order of Merit as of Monday 5 October following the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
›  If any player is unable to play in category (a) or (b) the next highest ranked player from the Race to Dubai Order of Merit (not otherwise qualified) will be invited to play. This will be based upon the Race to Dubai OOM as of Monday 5 October.

›  If any player is unable to play in category (c) the next highest ranked player in that region from the Official World Golf Rankings to a floor of Top 100, after which the next highest ranked player in that region from the Race to Dubai Order of Merit (not otherwise qualified) will be invited to play. This will be based upon the Race to Dubai OOM and OWGR as of Monday 17 August following the US PGA Championship.
›  If any player is unable to play in category (d) the next highest ranked player from the Official World Golf Rankings to a floor of Top 100, after which the next highest ranked player from the Race to Dubai Order of Merit (not otherwise qualified) will be invited tplay. This will be based upon the OWGR as of Monday 28 September.

›  If any player is unable to play in category (e) the next highest ranked player from the Race to Dubai Order of Merit (not otherwise qualified) will be invited to play. This will be based upon the Race to Dubai OOM as of Monday 5 October.
›  In the eventuality of unforeseen last minute circumstances a reserve player will be on stand by and this will be the highest ranked available player (not otherwise qualified) from the Race tDubai Order of Merit as of Monday 12 October.
