• By winning the Portugal Masters, Alvaro Quiros won on The European Tour for the second consecutive season since graduating from the 2006 European Tour Qualifying School – Final Stage. He became the last player to win on their first European Tour appearance as a full member at the 2007 Alfred Dunhill Championship. He then won for a second time  at the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course in 2008. The 26 year old took his consecutive winning streak to three years at the 2009 Commercialbank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy.

• Daniel Silva, at the 1992 Jersey Open, holds the distinction of being the only Portuguese player to win on The European Tour. (Jose-Filipe Lima, is now a Portuguese national. However, in winning the 2004 As St Omer Open, he was representing France).

• The Portugal Masters, with a prize fund of  €3,000,000 is the richest official European Tour event ever staged in this country.
