• The JBWere Masters became part of The European Tour International Schedule for the first time in the 2007 season. The event was the fifth different co-sanctioned tournament staged in Australia. The others were: ANZ Championship (2002-04), Greg Norman Holden International (2000-01), Heineken Classic (1996-2005) and Johnnie Walker Classic (1997, 02, 03, 05).

• Since its inception in 1979, the JBWere Masters will have only its second venue. Kingston Heath has taken over from Huntingdale, which staged all 30 previous tournaments. Kingston Heath is no stranger to holding big championships. The Melbourne venue has staged the Australian Open seven times, the last in 2000 when Aaron Baddeley made a successful defence of his title he won as an amateur in 1999. The Australian Match Play Championship has also been played there seven times, in  addition to the IFQ International Qualifying for The Open Championship on four occasions.

•  Six Major Champions have claimed the Yellow Jacket as winners of the JBWere Masters. They are: Gene Littler (1980), Greg Norman (1981, 83, 84, 87, 88, 89), Bernhard Langer (1985), Mark O’Meara (1986), Ian Baker-Finch (1988) and Michael Campbell (2000).

• Defending champion Rod Pampling, made European Tour history 12 months ago when winning the JBWere Masters. He was playing in his first event since joining as an Affiliate Member and defeated Marcus Fraser in a play-off. He became the first play to win on their debut appearance as an Affiliate Member.

• Two players in the field hold the distinction of winning the Australian Open at Kingston Heath and are playing in the JBWere Masters. They are: Peter Senior (1989) and Baddeley (2000).

• World Number One Tiger Woods, will be bidding to win his first stroke play event in Australia. Should he triumph it will be the tenth different destination he has won a tournament in.
