Fredrik Andersson Hed birdied four of his first five holes to hit the front during the final round of the South African Open Championship.
The Swede birdied the first then responded to a bogey at the next with a hat-trick of birdies from the third, taking him to 12 under for the week.
That was one better than India’s Shiv Kapur, who had picked up three shots through his first six holes.
But several players were in contention as a thrilling climax approached at Pearl Valley Golf Estates.
Overnight leader Pablo Martin was very much in the hunt at ten under, despite a dropped shot at the third, and he was joined by Darren Fichardt and James Kingston – both of whom were looking to extend the run of South African winners of this event to nine.
