Tournament History

The Africa Open made its debut on The European Tour International Schedule in 2010 and, fittingly, was won by home favourite Charl Schwartzel at East London Golf Club. Schwartzel fired a final round 67 to finish 20 under par overall and win by a shot from his countryman and friend Thomas Aiken. He had to endure a nervous wait, however, as a sliced drive resulted in a bogey at the last, meaning Aiken, in the final group, had a 15-foot putt for birdie which would have forced a play-off. He missed though, handing Schwartzel his fourth European Tour title.
