Spain's Alejandro Cañizares and Swede Pelle Edberg both made moves on the second day of the Iberdrola Open Cala Millor Mallorca at Pula.

Cañizares, son of former Ryder Cup hero José Maria and winner of the 2006 Russian Open in his first season as a professional, was just a stroke behind overnight leader James Kingston after birdies at the tenth and 14th holes.

Edberg, trying to regain his European Tour card, had four birdies in his first seven holes, but bogey on the 443 yard 17th put him back into a tie for fourth.

Kingston, among the day's later starters, stood five under with Cañizares four and then another Spaniard, Alvaro Velasco, in third a further shot back.

Edberg shared fourth with Ireland's Gary Murphy, Frenchman Raphaël Jacquelin and Norwegian Thorbjorn Olesen.
