Tournament History

The BMW PGA Championship, the flagship event on The 2010 European Tour International Schedule returns to a newly remodeled West Course at Wentworth Club for the 27th consecutive year. Defending the title will be local Surrey favourite Paul Casey who got up and down from a bunker on the last 12 months ago to claim his tenth European Tour title, three years after he won the original World Match Play crown at the same venue.
After a terrific battle with Ross Fisher, Casey birdied the two closing par fives to grab the first prize of €750,000. Fisher was only one outside the course record with his best of the week closing 64, but it was not quite enough. However, it needed three birdies in the last four holes for Ryder Cup star Casey to hold off the challenge of his fellow Englishman.
The outcome was far from certain when Casey found a greenside bunker with his approach to the par five last. But he splashed out to five feet and made no mistake with a tricky left to right putt.
Third was Dane Søren Kjeldsen, three shots adrift of Fisher and fourth Welshman Stephen Dodd, a welcome return to form for the former World Cup winner.
